Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a cake cost?

The cost of the cake is almost entirely based on the number of servings needed. We charge per serving factoring in how customized the cake is as well as dietary needs. We offer Signature Celebration Cakes starting at $5 per slice and Fully Customized Cakes starting at $7 per slice. See the order form page for more details.

What are your hours?

We don’t hold standard walk-in hours because we are a fully custom shop. We are only open for pick ups by appointment and for tastings, classes, and events. Keep an eye out for social media posts about potential pop ups in our space that might involve walk-in retail.

Where can I find your goodies?

We currently wholesale to a few partners- Vermont Artisan Coffee (Waterbury), Rosie’s Market (Winooski), and Mad River Taste Place (Waitsfield). Each wholesale partnership orders a different variety of items. Check them out to see what they offer from us!

Do you provide cake stands/rentals/toppers?

We do not provide these items, but are happy to be a resource looking over ideas that clients have. It is standard in our wedding planning follow up email that we put in dimension recommendations for a cake size. We are happy to do this by request for others as well.

We only want a small cake, but need to serve a crowd. How?

Let’s get creative and make a plan that fits your style and budget. Many larger events will offer a small decorated cake and then back of house kitchen cakes that are have less finesse but are just as delicious. These servings are cheaper per slice at $4.

How many items should we order?

We recommend ordering cake slices to the exact number of servings you want including your guest count and leftovers. We recommend ordering 1.25x the number of regular cupcakes to your guest count and 2x for petites. For dessert bars, we recommend having 2.5-3x the number of guests in total number of servings broken up in the different items you have selected. Don’t panic, we are celebration experts and are happy to talk it out with you.

How on earth do we pick a flavor(s), it all looks so good!

Be interesting. It’s okay to pick YOUR favorites for your celebrations and not only steer toward people pleasers. If you have room to pick a lot of items, then we recommend hitting these 4 categories (even if one flavor hits multiple): light and simple, zippy and fruity, deep and rich, and the warm spices.

When should we order a cake?

Signature cakes and fully custom cakes can get booked out a few weeks in advance due to capacity, especially during wedding season. We recommend planning 3-4 weeks ahead when possible and using the availability listed on our order forms to double check for your date. Weddings and large events should be booked between 4-10 months prior.

How do deposits work?

We use deposits to hold space in our calendar for orders serving more than 50 and/or requiring weekend delivery. It is not an extra fee, just an up front one that comes right off the final invoice. It allows us to hone in our availability by marking down capacity in our baking and delivery schedule for committed clients. Cake and cupcake deposits are $100 and dessert bar deposits are $250. All deposits are non-refundable. We handle deposits through emails once we confirm our availability and confirm that an order would require one.

I've taken several online classes with Janina, and had a blast every time! She and her classes are welcoming and friendly, and she makes each recipe approachable. Especially during these times when I can't get together in person with family and friends, we've really enjoyed tackling new recipes "together" under Janina's guidance.
